Background
The MBONUNU Consultancy is an option-driven, alternative-oriented small business initiative (SBI), whose engaged members are counted within trusted spheres of experts in Environmental-, Agro-, and Forest sciences. We work with other businesses and networks including financial institutions, producers, supply chain actors, food security insurers, decolonial development NGOs, and certification agencies dedicated to reduce exploitation, bring sustainable products to market, valorizing Timber and wood products, including Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs). MBONUNU Consultancy aims to promote sustainable economic development by improving efficiency and transparency in financial markets for sustainable Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in emerging economies. Since 2016, we have been working with astounding success in establishing the best conditions to increase capital flow in sustainable agriculture and forestry SMEs. This also include Eco-tourism and Environmental Memorabilia.

Since 2017, MBONUNU Consultancy has analyzed and drafted reports on Forestry, Agriculture and Environmental issues while proposing research Impact Assessment and Measurement frameworks and a set of indicators that assist stakeholders and other investors in measuring their impact in Forestry/Agriculture value chains. In the process, Community stakeholders and experts in the global South have benefited from our expertise. We have advised different entities, networks and individuals on ensuring consistency and harmonization across international impact monitoring and measurement frameworks.
Presently, the MBONUNU Consultancy strives to engage with trusted international investors in the countries of global SOUTH and NORTH.
Objective
MBONUNU Consultancy’s main Objective is to Empower stakeholders and local Communities, likewise strengthening the bargaining power of SMEs, while motivating local actors whose livelihoods depend on indigenous means of survival and nature protection to embrace sustainability.
How we work (Methodology)
Our consultants and experts work under the directives of MBONUNU Consultancy and its CEO, in coordination with our Team to the following main steps:
Project Timeline: Phase I within 3 Months – Total Project estimated to 15 months (extendable).
Phase I:
- Developing an Impact Measurement Framework for Natural/Plantation/Agro Forests. Desk study of existing impact indicators and development of impact core issues
- Project planning and detailed work plan
- Establishment of the Working Group: 5 – 10 experts (natural forest & plantation) on the field (depends on scale of work) that will develop the framework.
Phase II:
- Development of indicators and data collection protocols: building on the framework, existing (agro)forestry indicators, research & development and a workshop conducted with the working group
- Pilot test of impact indicators and data collection protocols. Incorporation of feedback
- Reporting and Publication of Results. It includes a workshop to train FIs/Financial Vehicles
Phase III: Adaptation of the framework to measure impact on natural or planted forests. It includes a workshop with the working group and Agro/forest experts, a pilot test of the framework in field and a workshop to train FIs /Financial Vehicles.
